AMAZING dessert from MBRGR to end an amazing meal & celebrate Samara's bday!

It has been a while so I figure instead of a long winded post, I thought I’d share a few pics of a great night out celebrating my friend Samara’s birthday! We went to MBRGR which is an amazing resto on Drummond with gourmet custom burgers and sinfully delicious fry baskets ( sweet potatoes and fried onions). As for dessert… just look at the pic of the that cookie! There are no words … since my mouth is full of food I can’t really talk.

For this (rare) night out I threw on a black sheer top ( fave village find to date), faux leather skirt from H&M and House of Holland tights (current obession).

Throwback: Backback vs Luggage Briefcase

A girl really can’t have too much baggage, if it means I get any of these beauties its definitely a case of the more the better. These deserve to be flaunted around, photographed and coveted by the masses! I’m on board with the throwback to the back pack… I even recall being OBSESSED with one girl’s Jasmine Disney backpack in kindergarten (it even have jewels all over)! While nowadays I do find myself leaning more towards quilted and alligator/croc skin (The Row’s exclusive backpack<3) instead of polyester and plastic (which still sounds pretty awesome), there is a new style that was seen ruling the runaways as well….the luggage inspired handbags.

I love the mini, medium and mega versions of this trend, while of course when thinking of luxe luggage Louis Vuitton comes to mind, but for me right now the one that I want is MCM. Take note if you haven’t already ladies and gents this brand has been making a major comback in the recent years. Thanks to hiphop fashion forward men and women and MTLs very own Corey Shapiro, helping feed the needs and dreams of the MCM obsessed.

These bags are for women and men alike so while you could buy that special gift for the man or woman in your life instead of yourself remember…sharing is caring. Well make sure to let them know that when you run out the door with ‘their’ gift.

Dancing away in my dreams is this lovely blazer by Helmut Lang. It has a femenin feel matched with a masculine edge thanks to the assymetrical cut, and oh so sexy black (oh how i wish it was leather) detail really makes it a fashion stand out.

BHM at NYFW. All Black Everything

NYFW has come and gone and while we’re all still sifting through the beautiful collections of designers and dreaming up new additions to our wardrobes, I will be adding additional musing to my mood board. No, not a specific collection or material or cut, but color….BLACK. Yes black as in ‘All Black Everything’ a la Jay-Z, and wearing black in order to help lead a more colourful life. But the most important reason that Black has such a powerful presence to me this month is of course Black History Month.

While yes I am appreciative that we have this month to look towards our past in order to gain perspective for our future. We must never forget, that our history no matter where it might originate from, can in no way be summed up in one month.
While I have been waiting patiently to see a few BHM inspired shoots from my fave magazines or at least their online web content, it never happened, so what’s a girl to do other than create what she wants most.

Without further a due, some very well deserved NYFW street style shout outs to those boys and girls who worked those Lincoln Center steps and proved to the world that black community’s love affair with fashion is more than just doorags and tight sweats.

Kristen Stewart Named New Face For Balenciaga Perfume

Kristen Stewart has been named the new face of the yet to be named Balenciaga fragrance! I think it’s a pretty good fit considering it’s a beloved avant-garde fashion house but not too mainstream or commercial to not fit her style and look.
While I am a little shocked in her decision to model and be the face of a fashion house (since she once called herself a fashion pariah), I can’t wait to see the pics of the campaign and check out the scent of the perfume as well! It’s a great fit since while she is a jeans and sneakers kind of girl on the red carpet and in every day life she dresses for herself and no one else. She’s been looking at ease and confident on the red carpet as of late and Balenciaga is known for not fitting any kind of mold, but creating them and breaking them season after season.
I’m really excited to see how this new campaign will measure up the Balenciaga’s previous ones with Charlotte Gainsbourg! I hope the ads will be a mix of what they did with Jennifer Connelly (who was the face of Balenciaga Fall 2009 campaign) and perhaps a throwback to Balenciaga’s vintage years!

When talking about choosing her as the new face for Balenciaga, creative director Nicolas Ghesquière said: “Kristen embodies the modernity of the new Balenciaga fragrance with her unique sensibility and intelligence. From her early appearance in ‘Panic Room’ to her independent choice of ‘Welcome to the Rileys,’ I’ve always sensed her progressive character. In 2006, I invited her to appear in a project shot by Bruce Weber. Since then, I’ve always wished to collaborate with her further, knowing that she shares the radical spirit of Balenciaga.”
She seemed equally excited and happy with being the it girl of the moment for Balenciaga when talking to WWD: “Balenciaga has always stood out to me. Even when I first began to consider fashion and admittedly rarely knew the brand I was wearing, I always recognized and loved Balenciaga. It feels full circle to be involved with something that spoke to me then and of course continues to excite me now. The brand is just cool. That’s the way it is. I feel drawn to it. It provokes on a number of levels. It isn’t afraid or contrived. It hits a very cool balance, always. Always pretty undeniable.”

Outfit Post: NYE In Neon Yellow!

Happy New Year!

On December 31, 2011 I spent a NYE with friends, food and multiple brands of Polish vodka, rum and potluck goodies (we brought eggrolls which were made from scratch)! Thought I’d share some pics from that night…plus wanted to show off my awesome xmas present from the bf. As I’m sure you’re very aware (from my most recent posts), I have a new obsession with neon & brights! That being said the yellow neon blazer was the PERFECT addition to my wardrobe, while I of course will continue to rock ‘All Black Everything’ outfits on a daily basis, I am however embracing my love of colors and my skin tone’s natural ability to work the hell out of neon bright lights & jewel tones! So enjoy the pics cause I certainly enjoyed my NYE night!

First let me start off by saying Gingers…my goodness YES! Second I am having serious man bag envy with the croc messenger bag, I want it…I also want my bf to dye his hair this color.
