Varsity Jackets & Leather Sleeves

With the season changing I’ve been going through some girly girl fashions of winters past to some tomboy mid season game changers.

Key pieces to have: varsity jacket, men’s watch, plaid (perfectly paired with anything high waisted) and anything with leather sleeves!

You can still be a girly girl with your accessories, but nothing makes me feel stronger and sexy than some leather detailing and a little sheer action in my outfits.

Throwback: Backback vs Luggage Briefcase

A girl really can’t have too much baggage, if it means I get any of these beauties its definitely a case of the more the better. These deserve to be flaunted around, photographed and coveted by the masses! I’m on board with the throwback to the back pack… I even recall being OBSESSED with one girl’s Jasmine Disney backpack in kindergarten (it even have jewels all over)! While nowadays I do find myself leaning more towards quilted and alligator/croc skin (The Row’s exclusive backpack<3) instead of polyester and plastic (which still sounds pretty awesome), there is a new style that was seen ruling the runaways as well….the luggage inspired handbags.

I love the mini, medium and mega versions of this trend, while of course when thinking of luxe luggage Louis Vuitton comes to mind, but for me right now the one that I want is MCM. Take note if you haven’t already ladies and gents this brand has been making a major comback in the recent years. Thanks to hiphop fashion forward men and women and MTLs very own Corey Shapiro, helping feed the needs and dreams of the MCM obsessed.

These bags are for women and men alike so while you could buy that special gift for the man or woman in your life instead of yourself remember…sharing is caring. Well make sure to let them know that when you run out the door with ‘their’ gift.

BHM at NYFW. All Black Everything

NYFW has come and gone and while we’re all still sifting through the beautiful collections of designers and dreaming up new additions to our wardrobes, I will be adding additional musing to my mood board. No, not a specific collection or material or cut, but color….BLACK. Yes black as in ‘All Black Everything’ a la Jay-Z, and wearing black in order to help lead a more colourful life. But the most important reason that Black has such a powerful presence to me this month is of course Black History Month.

While yes I am appreciative that we have this month to look towards our past in order to gain perspective for our future. We must never forget, that our history no matter where it might originate from, can in no way be summed up in one month. Read More »

Mood Board/Trend Report: Slicked Back Sex Appeal

GIORGIO ARMANI S/S 2012

While obsessively looking through the Michael Pitt for Prada photos and the new campaign pics for the Spring/Summer collections something stood out….it seems the short and even long slicked back hairstyle was EVERYWHERE. From Chanel to Gucci S/S 2012 is showcasing a sexy strong hair trend that’s pretty easy to do, but should be saved for those with the face shape and cheekbones to pull it off…aka not me.

Double Take: Suzy Shier

Hello my amazing readers, I have a fun treat in store with you for this blog post! I’ve decided to start reviewing collections (especially local and national brands) on an even more personal level, to go along with my post I’ll be styling shoots with the pieces from the collections. That way I can get a first hand look at how the material moves, the fit of the clothing..and well do what I love to do, STYLE. It was a great shoot that just flew by, with an amazing team: Photographer: Maciek Wilkos and my friend and model (someone discover this girl and sign her immediately) Shelby Wams. So enjoy the first post on a new blog segment called ‘Double Take’, because that’s exactly what you’ll be doing when you see what these brands have in store for you in the coming months!

Winter White Feels Like Christmas In July. Cream Pleated Blouse ($28) White Denim Shorts ($22)

Multi Gold Bangles ($6.90), Gold w/ Coral Color Stones ($7.90) & Gold Sun Ring w/ White Stone & Crystals ($5.90)

Suzy Shier’s Summer Collection is filled with the essentials for every kind of girl, whether your clean cut and preppy, laid back and trendy or inclined to the more romantic fashions of life they’ve got you covered. I made sure to style this and show off that this is not your mother’s Suzy Shier ladies. The first outfit is perfect for beating the summer heat in an all white ensemble, and of course knowing me I was immediately drawn to the pleats! Pleats are a huge trend crossing over from season to season for the past year and this top is just perfect for covering up but light and airy for the hotter days.

Tribal To A Tee. One Shoulder Ruffled Tribal Print Top ($28) Stone Wash Denim Shorts ($22)

Stretchy Bangle w/ Crystals ($10.90) Feather Earrings ($5.90)

Holy Glory, Summer Knits

I just love this next outfit, mixing a fall favorite (knits) and throwing it into a summer outfit, it’s a miracle…a very fashionable one at that. It’s the perfect knit it’s light enough to breathe but not too exposed to be considered indecent. I decided to pair this with some summer must-have items from my own closet: vintage bag, straw hat and brown wedges. This outfit is just perfect for Osheaga ladies so take note!

Knit Top ($28) Stone Wash Denim Shorts ($22)

Turquoise Ring ($5.90) Multi Gold Bangles ($6.90)

I just LOOOVE this necklace and knit top! Peacock Feather Pendant ($6.90)

Summer Sunburst

Yes more pleats please! The color is just delicious for the summer, it’s bright, playful and just beautiful to look at. The pleats and one shoulder design of the dress make it both romantic yet seductive, which is what every girl wants in a dress.

Orange Pleated One Shoulder Dress ($35), Belt (Part of a 2 pack $8)

Lara Stone, perfection even while riding a bike

Always enjoy finding photos of models off duty, what I enjoy even more though, Is pictures of Lara Stone doing anything! Why cause there’s a good chance that no matter what she’s doing (posing for vogue, or running errands in this case), she’s doing it with ease and looking amazing! Check out Lara Stone nailing bicycle chic style in neutral colors of cream, and greys and a sensible pair of flats as well. The perfect simple, chic and very fashionable (love the sunglasses) outfit for a bike loving girl.
