BHM at NYFW. All Black Everything

NYFW has come and gone and while we’re all still sifting through the beautiful collections of designers and dreaming up new additions to our wardrobes, I will be adding additional musing to my mood board. No, not a specific collection or material or cut, but color….BLACK. Yes black as in ‘All Black Everything’ a la Jay-Z, and wearing black in order to help lead a more colourful life. But the most important reason that Black has such a powerful presence to me this month is of course Black History Month.

While yes I am appreciative that we have this month to look towards our past in order to gain perspective for our future. We must never forget, that our history no matter where it might originate from, can in no way be summed up in one month. Read More »

Styled: Rowenta Beauty’s Promo Ads

Blazer: Mulcair. Top: Mulcair. Pants: American Apparel. Jewelry: Links of London. Sunglasses: Vintage

Jacket: Balmain. Top & Belt: American Apparel. Shorts: Les Petits Haut. Shoes: Aldo

Yes I know these photos and post are overdue, but here you go. This summer I had a great opportunity to style a shoot to promote Rowenta’s new Versa Style Iron. The shoot was put together by the great and gorgeous group at 1 Milk 2 Sugars PR. The model the always fabulous Robyn Chalmers from Fashionista514, Hairdresser Master of styling tools Luigi Rosi and shot by the marvelous Maciek Wilkos. The idea of the shoot was to style 3 different looks for her that would match the 3 different settings and hairstyles created by the amazing Versa Style Iron.

I had so much fun styling this shoot, it was a great group of people and the settings were so much fun to work with when selecting the looks for Robyn. We had such great locations, the streets of Old Montreal, W Hotel (the beautiful Wunderbar) and SSENSE Boutique.
I really do love going on a set or location and creating looks that will be photographed and enjoyed by others. It’s such a thrill getting to work with such a great people and doing what I love. I only wish I could do more of this…more looks, more shoots, more story boards to inspire me..more styling!

With every shoot all I can do is grown and learn more about this amazing job and hopefully meet some more amazing people to work with, and who want to work with me. This city is full of so many talented people, fingers crossed they see my work, like it and want to work with me as much as I would LOVE to work with them.
One of my many dreams is of course to one day style for some amazing Canadian Magazines like Elle Canada & Quebec, Fashion Magazine, FLARE (Elizabeth Cabral is my hero) & Clin d’oeil.
The fashion editors at these magazine inspire me on a daily basis, by showing the talent that is in Montreal, Toronto and all over Canada. Here’s hopes that one day I just might be one of the important Fashion Editors, until then I’m working my tush off on freelancing and working my way up to assistant F.E then one day…

More Frills, More Love

If I ever get married, THIS will be one of my wedding dresses. Because oh yes I will wear multiple dresses, and oh yes E! will want to broadcast it to the world. Ravings of a delusional fashionable woman…yes, but while my mind may be faltering, my style never will. But in all seriousness I have been dreaming about frills like this since seeing lil miss SJP (Marie-Claire Sept. 2011) in this Christian Siriano RTW skirt. It’s gorgeous!

Happy Halloween From Nicki Minaj

My oh so fun Nicki Minaj costume

So Halloween has come and gone and now we bask in the glory of discounted candy and Christmas lights being put up! I just love Halloween and this year was no different, but I did come to the realization of that xmas song claiming Christmas is for kids from 1-92. If that is in fact true then why can’t that rule apply to Halloween. I just want to go trick or treatin’, I just want to empty my bag at the end of the night and pack them in my lunch for the next day. I just want it all folks, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. Well enough for my sugar filled rantings, Happy Halloween & All Saint’s Day.

The Costume Institute Gala 2011: Alexander McQueen’s Savage Beauty

Looking mature, elegant AND confident: Kristen Stewart in Proenza Schouler

Kristen Stewart with the handsome boys of Proenza Schouler

The Costume Institute Gala at The Met was upon us last night, and of course designers, celebrities and muses alike posed in their custome made gowns and suits. This year it was to celebrate the opening of the exhibition ‘Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty‘! I love the Costume Institute Gala but sometimes I feel as if certain celebs are just there for the photo op and press. This event should be focus on the designers and their creations, as well as the muses who push the designers creative boundaries. That being said and my opinion is now out in the universe, here are my favorites from the event! Enjoy!
