Mood Board/Trend Report: Slicked Back Sex Appeal

GIORGIO ARMANI S/S 2012

While obsessively looking through the Michael Pitt for Prada photos and the new campaign pics for the Spring/Summer collections something stood out….it seems the short and even long slicked back hairstyle was EVERYWHERE. From Chanel to Gucci S/S 2012 is showcasing a sexy strong hair trend that’s pretty easy to do, but should be saved for those with the face shape and cheekbones to pull it off…aka not me.

Bold Prints & Bright Lights: Vogue Germany January 2012

Monika Sawicka in Vogue Germany January 2012. The prints, fabrics, colors and lighting make me feel all warm and happy inside! I’m lusting for the mash-up of prints and thick silk cuts featured in this spread, just had to post this great editorial. Thought I’d also add my own version of how to make these looks a bit more street friendly (yes I have finally caught on to Polyvore), even if my New Year’s resolution is to dance like no one’s watching (check and mate NYE night) and dress to impress myself and no one else. Enjoy the pics, post & Polyvore! Read More »

Prada Pout: Michael Pitt Is The New Face Of Prada

Hi. I’m Michael Pitt. I’m Marie-Leigh’s BF. I love her so. We’re gonna make cappuccino colored babies. Maybe he didn’t say that, and maybe he did. Either way Michael Pitt the pouty, sexy, swagger filled man that he is, is also the new face for Prada’s Mens collection. Oh those lips, intense bright eyes and luscious locks have me giddy with excitement about him wearing one of my favorite designers! A man with good looks and hot closet to boot…marry me now…or ya know whatever.

Yes I know these photos and post are overdue, but here you go. This summer I had a great opportunity to style a shoot to promote Rowenta’s new Versa Style Iron. The shoot was put together by the great and gorgeous group at 1 Milk 2 Sugars PR. The model the always fabulous Robyn Chalmers from Fashionista514, Hairdresser Master of styling tools Luigi Rosi and shot by the marvelous Maciek Wilkos. The idea of the shoot was to style 3 different looks for her that would match the 3 different settings and hairstyles created by the amazing Versa Style Iron.

I had so much fun styling this shoot, it was a great group of people and the settings were so much fun to work with when selecting the looks for Robyn. We had such great locations, the streets of Old Montreal, W Hotel (the beautiful Wunderbar) and SSENSE Boutique.
I really do love going on a set or location and creating looks that will be photographed and enjoyed by others. It’s such a thrill getting to work with such a great people and doing what I love. I only wish I could do more of this…more looks, more shoots, more story boards to inspire me..more styling!

With every shoot all I can do is grown and learn more about this amazing job and hopefully meet some more amazing people to work with, and who want to work with me. This city is full of so many talented people, fingers crossed they see my work, like it and want to work with me as much as I would LOVE to work with them.
One of my many dreams is of course to one day style for some amazing Canadian Magazines like Elle Canada & Quebec, Fashion Magazine, FLARE (Elizabeth Cabral is my hero) & Clin d’oeil.
The fashion editors at these magazine inspire me on a daily basis, by showing the talent that is in Montreal, Toronto and all over Canada. Here’s hopes that one day I just might be one of the important Fashion Editors, until then I’m working my tush off on freelancing and working my way up to assistant F.E then one day…

Hope you enjoyed the post can’t wait to show you the next shoot I styled. For more information on the clothing used, those involved or booking information for styling feel free to contact me at marieleigh.t@gmail.com.

Lookbook Love: Cynthia Rowley Resort 2012

Cynthia Rowley's fantastically colorful Lookbook

I am really enjoying Cynthia Rowley’s Resort 2012 lookbook peeple! With a collection that already has such strong vibrant colours (as well as crisp whites and basic blacks), pairing it with a beautiful painting in the background just helped round out and compliment the entire collection! Oh and of course ladies and gents one cannot forget to mention how cute those shoes are and yes, that black zipper bag has my name on it. This collection is a great mix between decadent ‘look at me’ colors and keeping it casual whites, this people is how you do a lookbook that has people begging for more!

3.1 Phillip Lim Pre-Spring 2012: Confident Cuts

3.1 Phillip Lim Pre-Spring 2012

Minimalist style, luxe fabrics, sleek cuts and the occasional print is what 3.1 Phillip Lim’s Pre-Spring 2012 Collection is all about. My favorite looks have to be the beige knit shorts and crop top, and of course the all black jacket and pants ensemble (I don’t care what you say black is a color and its perfection). Which one’s your fave?
