Rust Lust: Bar Decor

Our cat Hannibal enjoying her new fave hangout

What’s this? Actual furniture and proof that people live in my appartment? Well this just can’t be, because anyone who knows me and has step foot in our place knows that in the Wilkos/Toure household we have serious commitment issues…with our decor choices.

Well all that has changed ladies and gents, because this weekend the paint will be chosen, the bed will be bought and the much needed attention to detail will finally happen in our NDG flat! I decided to jump the gun a bit and fix up the bar first, since I do enjoy a nice shower then drink after a long day at school/work. This first post on the delightful decor to come should clue you in on the vibe were going for….INDUSTRIAL! It’s a clear choice for us since monsieur is KING for all things vintage and industrial (he designs custom antique lighting and furniture…truly jack of all trades WILKOS ELECTRIC ). I have been absolutely won over by the style, though there have been an argument or two over how much rust is too much.

The pieces were not all found in 1 day of course, when it comes to industrial/antique it’s not always easy finding the pieces to fit you’re decorating puzzle (especially since this trend is picking up steam, the prices can burn you from time to time). As always all great things take time but for now enjoy the post with the pics from the pieces we found and stay tuned for more decor blog posts to come!

Info for pieces featured at the end of the post.

Industrial Trend: Chandelier

Just cannot stop staring and dreaming about this great chandelier by FACTORY514! It was custom made for a very stylish client who needed an industrial touch to her modern day condo/loft. The best part about this piece is that it’s made by a designer here in MTL! Though already boasting custom sales to restaurants in NYC (BAREBURGER) and Toronto as well, his etsy sales have become a hit accross the pond and Japan as well! Make sure you check out his site for some amazing industrial pieces to brighten up your home decor!

Kate Middleton Fashion Royalty in Alexander McQueen Wedding Gown

Introducing Kate, Duchess of Cambridge

Alright ladies no more waiting the gown has been revealed and it was….ALEXANDER MCQUEEN BY SARAH BURTON! So happy she went with Mcqueen, what Sarah Burton has been doing with the label has gone above and beyond pleasing fans of the fashion house and critics alike. The gown was demure, classic and modern fairy tale glam. I for one was reminded more of Grace Kelly than Princess Di, but then again compare anyone to Princess Diana and they’ll fall short every time. I can’t help but feel all giddy and excited at the chance to watch all of this royal wedding excitement unfold. My mom watched Princess Diana’s wedding, and now it’s my turn to wake up way early than I should be, break out my china and drink some tea. The wedding day might almost be over, but trust me when I say the media circus surrounding all of this has yet to over and done with. Get ready for 2 weeks of gossip mags talking about the dress. Followed with honeymoon photos, then ‘wedded bliss’ cover shots, promptly followed by ‘the honeymoon is over’. That last headline I hope will be wrong of course! Ah alright ladies let’s have our heads up high and put on a smile for Princess Kate….cause Prince Harry (WAY hotter than William) is still single so you never know.

The dress to be remade & influence future wedding gowns for the next 10 years. Alexander McQueen by Sarah Burton

History of a Woman’s Silhouette

History of Fashion

I always enjoy a good diagram and infographic when it comes to fashion, so when I saw this pretty little diddy I just ahd to share it! Enjoy a quick look through a woman’s fashionable silhouette ladies and gents! Although I must say my favorite thing has to be, even thought it’s just a silhouette you can tell the woman is confident! I Love it!

Fashion S&M: Leather Harness Accessories Trend

Strap In

From Lanvin to Hermes and Zana Bayne, these sexually charged accessories are no longer being put in brown paper bags. Oh no, instead they’re in sleek designer shopping bags and out the doors of fashion house boutiques. I for one think there better suited for the pages of an editorial or on a handbag instead of around my neck. But different chokes for different folks.

Dream Closet in an Antique Cabinet

Antique Cabinet that I would put all my clothing treasures in!

This right here ladies and gentleman is my new furniture lust item. I love it I want it and its 20% off. I know I usually go after modern or Louis XV style furniture, but I just couldnt help but gravitate towards this beauty right here. It would look amazing in the apt with the light antique blue of the cabinet playing against the dark-grey/black wall in the apt! GORGEOUS!
